George W. Jenkins Scholar Maria Kaber

Congratulations to George W. Jenkins Scholar and University of Miami graduate Maria Kaber. Inspired by her grandfather, Maria dreamed of becoming a physician like him. Along the way, she faced health issues, financial hardships, and the death of her father—an unexpected challenge that tested her strength in ways she never could have imagined. With the help of the George W. Jenkins Scholarship program, Maria was able to continue her studies and earn a bachelor of science in health science.
The George W. Jenkins Scholarship program, funded by Publix Super Markets Charities, is intended to allow deserving high school graduates to complete a four-year college education without economic hardship for themselves or their families. The students who receive this scholarship have demonstrated the ability to achieve success despite having encountered a significant obstacle or adversity. The scholarship is currently offered at Florida Southern College, University of South Florida, University of Miami, and Emory University.
