Nourishing Communities for 50 Years

stories like theirs are why our founder called giving a privilege.

Publix Charities is proud to celebrate 50 years of supporting nonprofit organizations dedicated to youth, education, reducing hunger, and alleviating homelessness in the Southeast.

Publix Super Markets founder George Jenkins believed in giving. He gave quietly, and he gave generously. He didn’t wait until he amassed his fortune. He gave throughout his life, even when he had precious little to spare. Later, when his company grew successful, he used a portion of his personal wealth to establish the George W. Jenkins Foundation, which today is Publix Super Markets Charities.

Mr. George, as he was affectionately known, believed that giving was a privilege, and now, the privilege is ours as we continue his legacy of compassion and involvement. We are grateful to have touched so many lives over the past 50 years, and we are committed to a future with the same vital purpose: to nourish our communities.
